Description : Jolly Phonics is the pioneer and the most popular programme of its kind, as well as being the most extensive. A workshop on Synthetic Phonics Teaching with Jolly Phonics was conducted by Ms. Megha Singhal in Pragyan Public School, Jewar on 27th June,2023.Ms.Megha Singhal is a UK trained Jolly phonics professional trainer .She has experience of more than 5years. She has trained more than 100 teachers and 300plus students in Jolly Phonics. The workshop was attended by all the teachers of the school, teaching the primary level. It touched upon the use of correct phonics, blending and segmentation of letters. Jolly Phonics is a fun and child centered approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. It emphasised that use of facial expressions and hand movements are an important part of Phonic Learning. Ms Megha talked of the Phonic Stages: · Learning the letter sounds · Learning letter formation · Blending · Identifying sounds in words · Spelling the tricky words The teachers learnt about the actions for each letter sounds, letter formation using different multi-sensory methods, blending in which the children are taught how to blend the sounds together and identifying the sounds in words .This workshop enabled the teachers to learn the technique of teaching children to read and write as early as possible and with ease. It was a wonderful session by ma'am.
